“Before coming to Infinite Wellness I had no experience with Traditional Chinese Medicine and holistic treatments. I was very skeptical that Infinite Wellness could offer real solutions to my long-standing and debilitating gut problems. However, I had had a great deal of experience looking into the puzzled and skeptical faces of MDs who saw no connections between the various symptoms I described to them. Specialist after specialist prescribed drugs to treat parts of the problem—drugs for painful gut spasms, drugs for allergy symptoms, drugs for skin rashes, anti-depressants for mood swings, drugs for nausea and hyper-acidity, tranquilizers for stress… The list was unending, and so was the illness. My energy and productivity plummeted. I teach and write books for a living, but I had not written a word in over a year. By the summer of 2010 I knew I was very ill.
I came to Infinite Wellness looking for acupuncture—admittedly grasping for straws with little understanding of the mechanisms behind the treatment. In our first meeting Sabrina Maiden made clear that what I needed was an integrated treatment that placed diet modification, lifestyle changes, homeopathic remedies, and just as importantly, a new understanding of the systemic interactions between mind, gut, and body, at the center of the enterprise. To my astonishment she not only understood my symptoms, she anticipated them and explained their interconnections to me. It was the first time in over five years of dealing with my disease that I found myself speaking to a health care practitioner who understood the entire package of afflictions besieging my body. In one session a world was revealed in which the causal connections between afflictions of the gut, the immune system, and the brain were visible and accessible. I finally understood why, how, and in what interconnected ways I was ill. I also saw the keys to unlocking the doors to restored health.
In the last six months I have seen my strength return, my mental focus sharpened, and my appetite back to normal. I can exercise again, and I eat without the old debilitating inflammations and exhaustions. My work productivity has returned. I have learned that the cure to my problem comes not in a hasty handful of prescriptions, but in a patient, integrated, and learned strategy of treatment that works with the body as it heals itself naturally. It has been an empowering experience, and the start of a life-long education about the interconnections between body, mind, and health.”
